The main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has announced that the party’s 2012 Flagbearer, Julius Maada Bio, will not honour recent police invitation to make a formal statement with regards to ex-combatants recruitment and rearmament allegations.
This was confirmed yesterday to the Ariogbo Newspaper by the National Secretary General of the SLPP, Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sei.
Banja Tejan-Sei explained that the party has already forwarded a letter to this effect to the police.

“There is no need for the police to invite our Leader to make a formal statement because he is not the complainant in this matter,” Banja Tejan-Sei said, adding that the complainants were locals residing in the various areas outlined in the party’s press release.
“If the police want to investigate, let them go to the areas highlighted in the press release and ask the locals to make formal complaints,” he said.
